So Far With the Doctor…

January 1, 2013

Thus far I’ve determined the following as I catch up to the current season of Dr. Who:

1 – Season 1 is primarily setting the stage
2 – Season 2 is the most fun one and thus most poignant and touching at the end
3 – Season 3 is alright but it’s the rebound season and almost a relief when it’s over
4 – Season 4 finds its feet again and provides resolution for season 2, thus giving an even more powerful emotional punch at the end than season 2
5 – The Tennant specials could have been so much more, but the final 2 bring it home and the final moments, especially the tenth Doctor’s final words, are positively heart-wrenching
6 – Season 5 is the spiritual successor to season 2; it’s fun again but also a bit more menacing as portended in the slightly revamped opening title sequence and theme
7 – Season 6, ish starts to get real – Amy and the Flesh?  H O L Y  C R A P….  Only just now up to episode 7.
